PASSION’S SONG

She slept ..

the sleep of unawareness,

her breath …

barely disturbing the cage.

Sometimes …

a sleepy eye

a gaze …

unfocused …

opened –

closed.

Her dreams –

occasionally –

spoke aloud.

A twitch of a limb,

a fluttering lid.

And when she woke?

And when she woke?

Arousing no fear

moving gracefully

at ease

with her world …

there were no …

unsheathed claws,

no bared fangs,

no audible growls.

Just a hunger

unfed

after a long sleep.

Stalking

Aware of her potency

she stalks her fate

behind a sensuous smile
