NIGHT MUSIC

Running late again – one of those weeks. Hope this makes up for it.

NIGHT MUSIC

By night

she kissed his soul

with music.

By day

doubts mocked

stealing joy.

By night

consumed by fire

he embraced

a phantom

hearing stars sing

dancing with angels.

Pale shadow

moving through

a grey world

waiting only

for the night

singing symphonies

he couldn’t see.

He didn’t hear.

One last caress

a gift

and she was gone.

He woke

bereft

hearing a song.

A sweet cello

sings now

by night.

He plays

weeping melodies

the sound of

hearts breaking.

Pale shadow

moving through

a grey world

waiting lonely

for the night

empty of all

save the music

of her soul
